My love affair with drummers and drums started ten years ago with Moses' playing + playing – just the two of us. I remember "Doxy" on a tennis court at a mountain resort...

And then all those countless "Loft Dances" with as many as four drummers and seven saxophonists at once (19th Street).

All those influences and inspirations: Pete La Roca, Elvin Jones, Jeff, Lenny White, Lungs (Don Alias), Al Foster, Badal Roy, DeJohnette, Barry... and some "non-drummer drummers" too: Chick, Mike Brecker, Grossman, Steve S.

The drummer's spirit is what moves me most. Thanx to you all in the world, and thanx to Manfred for doing this album with me.
